* Quake kills 26 in Iran, destroys 800 homes
TEHRAN, Iran (Reuters) - A strong earthquake hit southern Iran Friday,
killing at least 26 people and destroying 800 houses in dozens of villages,
Iranian state media reported. The quake measuring 6.5 on the Richter scale
also injured at least 100 people when it struck a mountainous area 30 miles
southwest of Shiraz, the main city in Fars province, in the early hours

began serving a two-year sentence for corruption on Thursday despite last-ditch
