As Shifteh Ansari says, an analyst being mistaken is one thing, but deliberately distorting reality is a different matter. As for the Leveretts being"Sandis Khor," dunno. Their behavior has the familiar flavor of the old "Kermit Roosevelt" CIA school of thinking, ie. support the least stable regime so it would have to lean on the US to stay in power, the regime leaders slowly becoming addicted to US support and eventually not able to survive without it. The Leveretts will drink IRI Sandis as long as IRI drinks US Coolaid. The couple are probably not olaaghs, as in the cartoon joke; more likely roobaahs.
Whenever we're done with throwing wisecracks at each other, then we might get the opportunity to explore and possibly admit the existence of the huge base support for A.N's populist government which has got intertwined with hardliners on many issues, yet it has been able to demonstrate its distance from the VF on many others.
Furthermore, Egypt today is what Iran was in 79 and absolutely nothing else. Any comparison between the national uprising in Egypt and the Green Movement where Rafsanjani and Co are considered iconic figures is a betrayal to the both nations.

I guess you've been inspired by the coming Oscar night :-)
Shifteh jan, I totally agree with you: The Leveretts as major "sandis khors" of the international variety . Thank you for this comprehensive description :-)
I'd like to congratulate the Leveretts. I can't think of anyone else who deserves such an honor as much as this couple. Ari, this was fantastic! The donkey kicking reminds me of the Leveretts' logic. I think it should receive the best cartoon-of-the-year award. I know it's only February. But remember, Obama got his Nobel Peace Prize in only six months.
It would be a pity to waste the name of a gentle animal on this guy.
JJ, on principle, I refrain from making accusations against people and their motives when they express opinions which are very distant from the realities on the ground. But I think you are too generous to this guy for saying that he says what he says because he believes in this hallucination. He was actually tame as compared to his wife when she appeared on AlJazeera in 2009, denying that there was a viable protest taking place in Tehran. Don't forget these two "pundits" have actually visited Iran over the recent years and in my book they are considered major "sandis khors" of the international variety. I am sure they are very well-loved by the rulers of the Islamic Republic.
On that note, I might actually withdraw the "Talaee" too. Peshgel itself would be more than they deserve.
The guy deserves it. What a waste of intelligence. If an intelligence officer can't recognize the depth of the Islamic Republic's unpopularity, then... what can I say? He's out of his mind. He appears to care about one thing only: if the U.S. is against a certain government, then it's worth defending.
Glad you enjoyed the cartoon, folks.

The angry outbursts from mamoot bi-mokh's poster boy/girl in broken farsi and the fake commi in "abstract English" are just hillarious!
Thanks Ari, you made my day!
