Friction With China Over Gas Field

Slow progress in South Pars project

Reuters: China should fulfil its duties in developing a phase of Iran's South Pars gas field or the contract would be cancelled, the semi-official Mehr news agency quoted the country's top oil company as saying. Tehran signed a $4.7 billion contract with China National Petroleum Corporation [CNPET.UL] (CNPC) in 2009 to help develop phase 11 of South Pars, replacing France's Total SA (TOTF.PA: Quote) which it had accused of repeated delays.

Chinese are not "Farangi." They're called "Chinavi" which is the bastardized form of the French word "Chinois!"

IRI is the main problem, but Iranian engineers are not mollahs!

by VATANAM on

please educate yourself instead of making a broad emotional , and inaccurate statement. Of course, we are behind in technology, that's why they have the sanctions; if it wasn't for that we could develop those oil fileds better than China. Politics, corruption and mismanagement is the problem not the engineers. We have top notch engineers that US is trying to get them out.

LOL yolanda if It wasn't for North korea and Pakistan IRI

by amirparvizforsecularmonarchy on

couldnt even enrich a donut.  Developing A gas field requires people that have not wasted most of ther lives reading and memorizing a Qoran.  There lies the problem, Iran under mullahs can't produce anything, which is why the west absolutely loves Islam in Govt for Iran.

IRI should ask herself why she can enrich uranium, but she can't develop her own gas field? Why does IRI have to rely on the farangi to develop her coveted gas field?

The decision IS Political! KHAK BAR SARE MA KEH CHIN BAYAD

by VATANAM on

ino barayemoon besazeh! Now this is a sign of regress! Chinese gaining all this experience at our expence. They are incapable! Chinese never allow any country to build anything unless they use and train the chinese, so next time they don't need the foreigners. Where are the Iranian engineers who should be hired by the chinese to work side by side with them? Shame on us!

Many of us have these chinese engineers who are working under us over here, but we cannot go home and help develop our own country! Who needs chinese when we have so many talented iranian engineers and managers who could do a much better job in building this facility! POLOITICS is the reason that we are stuck here, and delays happen. US is not going to allow it since it is trying to bring IRI under its yoke.

China being incompetent is another thing. Of course, China is playing both sides. They are snakes, milking from the US and IRI. Don't forget China cannot afford to alienate the US. After all, it is the US that has made these peasants to what they are today in only 10 years.

Totalitarianism

and separate the nuts from the shells.  Low income industries.  If it's highly profitable you will notice that unless it was created when shah was in Iran it isn't there now.  The plans for being the worlds largest fertilizer producer was replaced by having to listen to fertilizer production in the back and forth between IRI/US/UK on news.

Iranians are Angry With IRI &

by amirparvizforsecularmonarchy on

During the time of the Shah, Irans elected parliament adminstered Iran and aimed to get honest deals.

Yet some say praise for the Shah's time is mere Nostalgia, not the truth, this view more than any other shows Iranians have a unique ability to show poor judgement even in hindsight.  Lets reflect, Contracts signed in the 60's and 70's for Iranians national resources were 75% for Iranians, 25% for foreign oil companies.  Today, this contract is 51% for china, 29% for India and only 20% for Iranians of which almost all goes to regime insiders not the people of Iran.  Staring at these cold hard facts, helps intelligent people see the motives of the west in portraying the shah as corrupt, repressive & tyrannical.

Yet in relation to the USA, the UK, & Israel we all know for a fact this is a beyond a simple distortion, but a great big lie.  After stealing Trillions of dollars of our resources over the years, lets see what these true despots/ tyrants accomplish at the UN against weak Palestinians that have suffered ethic cleansing and government backed mass murder with their help.

Iranians have every right to be angry at both the IRI, who have sold out the people of Iran, and the US/UK govt's that brought them to power.

In Memory of Khoda Biamorze.

Jahanshah Javid

Who's left?

by Jahanshah Javid on

There are major disputes with Russia over oil, gas and defense projects, and now with China as well. The issue is not political, since both Moscow and Beijing would love to do business with Iran regardless of its internal or external behavior. But it appears it's not easy to implement deals under international sanctions, especially with tight restrictions on transfer of funds and high-tech materials. Chinese and Russian businesses also don't want to risk losing lucrative contracts with the U.S.

What's left are desperate companies trying to do business with a desperate regime. And that means higher costs as a result of illegal payoffs and activities in order to escape sanctions -- with greater risk that projects would never get done.
