به جرأت می‌توان گفت که در سی و یک سال پس از عزل بنی‌صدر، هیچ رییس جمهور اسلامی دیگری بمانند احمدی‌نژاد در برابر ولی فقیه نایستاده و این گونه از خود استقلال رأی نشان نداده است. سه رییس جمهور معممی که پس از عزل بنی‌صدر (و دوران کوتاه ریاست جمهوری رجایی) بر سر کار آمدند، یعنی خامنه‌ای، رفسنجانی و خاتمی، با همه اختلافاتی که گهگاه با ولی فقیه زمان خود پیدا می‌کردند هیچگاه این جرأت را به خرج نمی‌دادند که در برابر اوامر صریح او موضع بگیرند>>>
