catastrophic failure [updated: Recovery!]

[UPDATE: Nov. 12, 7:30AM Pacific]

We were able to recover the month-long lost data and are now working to restore it on a new server. We will be down as far as new user contributions for a few hours, but will be back with full functionality later today. JJ is working on transferring all the new submission that happened in the past day or so. However, as we warned before, most comments (made in the last day) will be lost.

I wanted to test this phpchat system to see if its something we want to adopt here at Iranian.com.

It's pretty simple (at least it seems so right now).

You have to be logged in with your Iranian.com user to see the empty chat box directly below this blog entry. You "connect" to the room using the little globe/lighting icon at the bottom of the main chat window, righ above the [B] bold key.

Once inside you can chat with whoever else is there.

Some special commands can be given (no quotes when you actually type them in)

Image and Videos in your blog entries

Hi Everyone.

By popular demand we now have better image and video support in our blogs. A few changes were made that I would like to talk about. We can use this blog entry to have a conversation about these and other issues that may be on your mind. I'm sure there are other things we can improve too. We're doing the best we can.

Before we start, lets realize that none of this is necessary. If you don't care about images and video and want to continue blogging the way you have been, just do it. Ignore the new extra image box and everything should be the same as before.
