This could also be called a book review with the intention familiarizing the Iranians in the West with the humor industry in their ancestral land. Some of us may think that the late night comedians such as Jay Leno, David Letterman and the rest are the founders of joke industry, but they would be surprised to know that love of fun is as old as human history and ingrained in human and even animal nature.

I never understand why we discontinue some practices that worked in the past. Chief among those was that we could click on a contributor's name, access the contributor's email with their permission. This would be another stepping stone to reach each other and exchange ideas outside of public arena. For some reason beyond my comprehension that system is abandoned and my query has not been addressed by the administrator.

A confusion in conversational English

I like to remind my fellow Iranian-Americans to distinguish these two expressions and do not ever confuse the two. Don't feel bad though because many Americans make the same mistake. I am not a linguist, but perhaps the confusion has something to do with the wiring of the brain and wrong interpretation of certain phrases in certain categories. It may even have a fancy name. I do know however, that the reason such mistakes become pandemic in America, has a cultural explanation.

Let us get involved in this presidential election and rescue America from itself. Like any nation, America is facing the forces of good and evil both from within and from without. What America has to overcome at this crossroad is to recognize that contrary to what public is led to believe, America is self-destructing. Thomas Jefferson said it best, “An empire collapses more from within than from without.”
