There is a year and half old Newsweek article citing the former Aryamehr University as one of the best universities in the world. The article still being circulated in the internet by our Iranian friends who support the concept of “honar nazd e Irani-e-yan ast o bas.”

While I am intrigued and excited about all of these uprisings and generation of hope in the hearts of Iranians, I would like to caution people not to get themselves overly excited to a point where they would get emotionally hurt when this shaken soda pop bottle loses its fizz and the people of Iran find themselves facing a more united Mullah front.

The Shoe Insult

As you might have heard, an Arab reporter threw his shoes at George W. Bush during a press conference in Baghdad. I was really impressed with Bush’s nimble agility and his timely ducking to avoid the incoming shoes. While I was thoroughly amused and laughing out loud at this unexpected crazy scene, I wondered how come I hadn’t heard about this method of Arab insult since I was raised in Iran which is a regional neighbor of many Arab countries especially Iraq. In fact, I would have been as shocked as Bush, if I saw the incoming shoes.
