This is merely an event announcement for those in the area who might have any interest and not a call for reactions. Hostile comments (or friendly ones for that matter) would be wasted, as this blog is not meant as a conversation. Thank you. Iran, Israel, and the US: Is War Inevitable?
Iran, A Reflection: Beyond Polished Nails and Gender Divide

For the "Iran, a reflection" Series

Iranian women participated massively in the 2009 election campaign and in its subsequent popular uprising. While it is absurd to call a movement that is neither a revolution nor contingent on twitter ‘a twitter revolution’, widely accessible images spoke louder than volumes of words to discredit the caricatured face of women living in the post-Revolutionary Iran.

URGENT: IRANIAN STUDENTS AND ACADEMICS

Dear friends, I am sure you are all aware of the events unfolding in Iran. Unfortunately, these events have taken a greater personal toll on some of us. Last week a dear friend Mohammadreza Jalaeipour has been arrested on his way back to the UK to continue is doctorate studies at Oxford University. His wife is now preparing a petition addressed to Ayatollah Shahroudi for his release. This petition is to be signed by: IRANIAN STUDENTS AND ACADEMICS WHO TEACH / STUDY / HAVE STUDIED OUTSIDE IRAN 1.

Which Rally?

I must get ready to show up at a rally for the disenfranchised soon, after I hastily respond to the growling need for nutriment – I’ve not missed the sight of my screen for the past six hours after all. Another transgression of the self-imposed limits on cyber-visits before I move, and the discipline is already too weak to resist the temptation to answer a call coming in incognito.
