Hello my Iranian.com friends. Hope you are all doing well. As we get older and hopefully wiser, I wanted to share with you the creation of a new organization that caters to the growing number of Iranian American Seniors. This organization is called "Association of Iranian American Seniors". It is located in Irvine, California. It is registered with the State of California and IRS as a non profit 501 (c) (3) organization.

Mehregan Festival Orange County Sep. 25-26, 2010

I wanted to invite all my Iranian.com friends to attend Mehregan (Persian Festival of Autumn) in Orange County. If you think Iranians can not work together, think again. Mehregan Festival is one example of how volunteers (over 500 of them) from young to old plan and execute a great Festival to celebrate our culture and heriatge.

Karroubi 2009 vs. 2005

While the recent election dispute centers around Ahmadinejad and Mousavi, little if any attention has been given to Mr. Karroubi’s numbers. As you recall, Mr. Karroubi was also a candidate in 2005. I looked at his numbers in 2005. Among 8 candidates on round one, he received 5,070,144 votes and became number 3.

Idea: Wear Green Wrist Bands

Friends,

Like you, I have been going through the emotional roller-coaster of watching the news
from Iran. Here is an idea to consider:

As you know the young people inside Iran are calling their movement
'Moj-e-Sabz' or 'Green Movement'. In fact today several Iranian soccer players wore
green wrist bands during a World Cup qualifying match in South Korea that was televised
in Iran.

Election: Youth being used?

Looking at all the pictures and events surrounding the ‘election’ in Iran, I could not help but notice how creative and vibrant our young people are. Once again, they are given a glimpse of ‘freedom’ and are being used by the candidates of both sides to draw attention to this show.

Iranians - Inside & Outside

More and more discussions on this site are centered on Iranians ‘Inside’ vs. those of us ‘outside’ the country. The debate kind of goes like this: The insiders say: Those who live outside really don’t know or do not understand the reality of life inside Iran therefore; their opinion does not carry much weight. They argue for example, perhaps rightfully, that where were you when the country was going through 8 years of bloody war with Iraq? How can you prescribe what is good for Iran and people inside when you do not even live there? And so on and so forth.

Lawyers & US!

Yesterday I heard Obama asking for a credit card reform bill. It got me to think that many documents that we do not read and even if we read we don’t understand but have to sign (to buy a car, a house, etc.) are actually written by a lawyer.

Best News Source for Iran?

Hello all,

I was curious as to what sources do you use to get the news/updates related to Iran? I use Yahoo news and do seach for 'Iran'. As for Farsi sites, I kind of like roozonline. I also find the news section of Iranian.com useful. Any other suggestions?

Lately I have seen many posts where rather than debating the issues, posters attack each other by such name calling as ‘IRI apologists’, ‘monarchists’, ‘liberal’, ‘red necks’, etc. Why is it that when we are unable or unwilling to debate an issue, we resort to such tactics?

Iranian.com has come a long way since its inception. I thought it would be a good idea to let you, the ‘users’ and ‘contributors’ to give ideas on how to make the site even better. Let’s be clear here, as the owner and founder, JJ has the ultimate decision making power as it is his site.

Give OBAMA a Break!

While Obama has only been in the office for a little over 60 days, he is under attack from all sides. I mean let’s give the guy a break. He had nothing to do with the creation of this financial mess that his administration is being blamed for. Yes I am just as mad at the AIG pigs and their bonuses, but guess what folks, it was all legal. As far as I know there are no laws (not yet) against being a greedy SOB in this country.
