Tell me about your artwork. What medium(s) do you work with primarily?

Portraiture became my main subject in 2004. Up until then I really was painting a bit of everything. But after discovering some amazing portrait works by the great artists like Lucian Freud, Frida Kahlo I realized that the subjects in these works had connected with me more than anything else.I think in a sense you seeing another person powerfully speak to you, so you want to know what’s the message behind eyes of these portraits?

I work primarily in documentary film but I’m also a dancer. Sometimes those two collide and I make films that involve dance. You get the point.

The Iranian Diaspora Film Series offers an opportunity for people of Iranian descent to share their worldviews and perspective on both their place of origin and place of residence.

Screenwriters, directors and producers of Iranian descent are invited to submit films of any genre and length to be considered for this curated screening series. Films will be screened at the historic Sedgwick Theater in the Mt. Airy neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (USA).
