as I fall deep into sleep
the moment I lie down.

a bride without a gown.

I say work must be a right
before that of free thought,
or comfort, or so called
pursuit of happy-idleness.

It frees you from troubadours
that fill your brain with tunes
to pickpocket your wage
in the back of their Mercedes.

I shot these videos for my friend Colin whose work I truly admire. His songs are in my head all the time, and if you can understand French you will appreciate the beauty of these poems. The first one is called "Bois Discret" or "Hidden Forest", and the second one "Jour apres jour" or "Day after day". Evangeline, the opera where these excerpts are from, depicts the plight of an Acadian Girl and her bestowed who are separated by the British Empire's removal of Acadians from their homeland (Nova Scotia of today).

My best work yet. Based on the poem previously published here.

The second video from my Chivalry series of poems. The voice is courtesy of Bell's text to speech natural synthesis engine. It doesn't put the emphasis in the spots I would have. And has real difficulty with some words. But it's otherworldly interesting.

I think the music came perfectly. It is completely engraved in my head.

Enjoy (well, it is grim, so perhaps "bear with" would be more appropriate).

I'll summarize it for you.
Job was rich,
righteous and bright.
To test him, God
smote him with blight.
His holdings were lost,
his house burned. God
took away (or killed)
all of his numerous children.
From head to toe
he covered him in sores
to the snicker of his wife.

All were amazed,
friend and foe,
at the lack of his wrath.
His companions

urged him to get it out.

She gave him a rock and said
Love this! This fistful of sand!
Love. He kept that for himself.
She was dressed in colours
and they danced in her face,
adding, as bright as they were,
neither adornment nor scar.

What if I gave you more?
This mountain? This stream
of diamond water, each drip
a uniquely cut gem
slowly wading down
by all the Shahs who sat
amidst their loot of war?

What could he say to that?
He knew the land. It was woven
much by the magic of men.

I find I hum to myself
even though the fish are gone
and the food is more costly.

Is it the colors, blue, green?
Or the sway of the short skirts,
eyes meeting eyes so boldly?

With people's attention gone,
instead of trumpeting war,
headlines turn to mere gossip

leafed in sidewalk restaurants
by readers in search of jobs
or sex in between each tip.

The same as birds, overhead,
certainly as numerous
and oblivious to more.

The dream

As you know, I love to write little poems for this and that. I had this song in my head from a Norwegian band called "Leaves Eyes". The song is "The dream", and I was considering writing something with the same feel, from the point of view of a pixie-guardianAngel-hoor that is in love with a young man, and the young man in question is one of the young iranians yearning and fighting for a better future in Iran.
