IC members name their "Favorite Contributors". Revision of an earlier blog.

The following list is the names of those who have been named as IC members' favorites. This is not a contest. There are no winners/losers.. However, a quick look at the names/catagories, reveals that patriotism, passion, creativity, humor and roamanticism (poetry/writing) characterize a good majority of our favorites. Transparency, objectivity, civility, compassion and patience are rare.

Most Valuable: Ghormeh Sabzi, JJ

Most Transparent; JJ, benross,

"Iran, A Reflection". How Are We Coping ?

Everyone knows that the Iranians living abroad have had a strong emotional reaction to the recent events in Iran. Feelings of helpless rage, witness guilt, pain/sadness alternating with joy, pride and hopefulness have been common.

How do we cope with this difficult and confusing situation in our country ?

Psychological Impact Of The Recent Events On Iranians Living Abroad

"Recently, I feel very irritable. I over-react to minor incidents. Even an innocuous questions, raise of an eye brow or a sarcastic smile by my husband might provoke a flare-up. I become tearful, use profanity and want to hit him. I am scared. What is wrong with me Mina?" She asked. My response to her question was "Have you been following the recent events in Iran?"

Karroubi asks people to attend a memorial service for Neda.

According to CNN, Mr Karroubi has asked people to attend a memorial service for Neda. The bisharam bassijis are attacking people, preventing them from remembering and mourning the murder of this beautiful and courageous daughter of Iran. Shame on them.

Politically, I am not as savy as I should be. But I deeply care for Iran and Iranians. I am wondering as why Mousavi is not asking people to go on a strike now. Why does he have to wait to be arrested to call for strike? I am puzzled by that. If you have the answere please let me know. Thanks.

I was shocked to hear Mr Ahamadinejad and Mr Rezaie speaking in a language that I did not understand. Someone needs to remind these candidates that we do not speak/understand "Arabic". I wonder who are they really talking to. Do you ?

Mousavi Is More In Touch With His Feminine Side (anima) !!!

According to Jung, the famous psychoanalyst, the persoanlity structure consists of the ego, the persona, the shadow, the anima and animus, the personal unconscious and the collective unconscious. The anima represents the feminine traits and the animus represents the masculine traits.

Although, I do not believe in this election/selection, I did watch portions of the debates. What I find interesting is that these two candidates are so different. Following is the summary of what I observed. (Please read it with a sense of humor).

Love Him Less, Treat Him Better!

Several years ago, a friend of mine asked me to see a young couple for marriage counseling. Mr and Mrs Doe were reportedly married for only nine months. The marraige was falling apart and they were thinking about getting a divorce. I was told that they loved each other, but were constantly fighting and both were exhausted and miserable.

Mrs Doe was beautiful, highly educated and an accomplished executive. She was born in Iran, but was raised in U.S. Mr Doe was social, friendly and had recently finisihed his residency. He was born and raised in U.S.

Dating Lesson By Mulla Nasreddin

There was a time when dating was fun and exciting. Unfortunately, things have changed. Many singles think of dating as, a painful process that they have to go through, in order to find that special someone. A big mistake that the majority might make, is talking excessively about their ex. Logically, they know that this is not a good idea. However, once on a date, they seem to get possessed (perhaps by anxiety) and forget all about their promise of "I shall not talk too much about my ex.....!!!"

Shah's Opinion about Women: Politically Irrelevant, Socially Significant

Although Iranian women have many wonderful qualities, the majority have difficulty believing in themselves and their strengths. There are many cultural reasons for what can be described as lack of confidence and/or low self-esteem. But I believe the most significant factor is internalization of "society belief system" by women.

Following is a part of Oriana Fallaci's interview with Shah. Was Shah's opinion about women a reflection of the opinion of our society as a whole ? You will be the judge.
