One of the most thought-provoking books I have ever read is Barry Schwartz's "The Paradox of Choice". The impact I felt was reinforced through attending Dr. Schwartz's talks, hearing him at various settings (on TED for example, linked below) and reading his articles and interviews.

So, one day, two days ago I left my funniest comment for Faramarz on his Manwich blog, which I immediately noticed deleted/ missing/ not there, whatever... I got so Pissed* that instantly experienced all the following emotions:

1. WTF?! I spent 3 mins typing that comment (leading to #2)

2. Doesn't JJ have any RESPECT for MY Time?! (at this point I was fuming, ooooh, totally sent to my fight or flight center of my brain, otherwise known as dyno-brain/ limbic system),.... calmed that one down a bit, but then reaction #3 occured

I just read this article by Soheila Vahdati in a friend's email. The content was not new to me. However, considering the current murders inside Iran, related to taboo love, naamoos, ghairat/ chauvinistic pride; I thought it is an appropriate time for us to consider all the ugly cruel cliches which we have grown up with, therefore grown desensitized to.

It was way past 11 O'clock pm here. After lamentıng about my back problem my new acquaıntence, Lısa a health practıtıoner from Australıa suggested I needed to go for a mud bath. The last tıme I decıded to get a local mud bath;I had dıscovered after payment that the mud bath technıcıan happened to be a Man! So I backed off. Politely asked for my money back and walked away from the dim lit humid underground cave.

دوستان روزانه جوک‌های عالی‌ میفرستن. خوب، وسط هزار جور درد و مرض، خندیدن واجبه. آسانترین تکنیکه برای برگشتن به پرسپکتیو‌های شخصی‌، به خصوص خندیدن با جوک ایرانی‌. امیدوارم به کسی بر نخوره. اگر خوبشو دارین لطفا اضافه کنین، با هم از راه دور یه کم بخندیم. نوحه و زجهه هم حد داره.د

Isn't Perfection in looks, Over-rated?

Recently I have received many comments about my looks. To clarify, dear ones suggest that I could use a nose job, some shots or "procedure" around my eyes to look "younger and better".... In reaction to the well-wishers' inquiries, my response has been: "but I feel good enough and young enough". Here, I usually get their inquisitive look which says, "You may think so Dear, but you do need some work done here and there... You don't know it". Ok... So I do. But seriously, I'm wondering what is all the obsession with looking Perfect?

چند هفته پیش وقتی‌ داشتم کرفس میزدم در ماست موسیر، از گوشهٔ چشمم متوجه نگاهی‌ شدم. برگشتم ببینم کیست. او هم برگشت. دیدم همون آقایی است که از اول مهمانی بهم نگاه‌های مرموزانه میکرد. دیگه دیدم نمیشه:

I have invited my Dutch friend and her visiting parents over for the World Cup between Holland and Spain. Interestingly, this morning I again thought of calling an old colleague from Spain, to introduce to this Dutch girl friend. Over the years I tried to match them but neither one was cooperative enough... both were dating other people.

So for this afternoon, I am chilling Gazpacho and a bowl of Spagetti-Squash Salad.

Random memories of breathing home

I could breathe the familiar air even before the plane landed. I reviewed all the years in exile with my eyes shut. Loud plane engines on the background of total darkness were not intrusive. And eight years long movie played in my head full force in matter of minutes. Mostly the peaks and the lowest lows had etched themselves indefinitely, hopefully. Those memories will be surely recycled for efficiency purposes - But never lost.

این جریان از بلاگ‌های شازده اسداله میرزا تو کلّه‌ام افتاد. ممنونم شازده.

سال‌ها بود که فحش نخورده بودم. یعنی‌ واقعیتش اینه که فکر می‌کنم سکوت مطلق در بعضی‌ موارد از هر فحشی دردناک تر و موثر تره.

Woke up feeling completely Blessed! Have been doing my happy dance on my tiled kitchen floor, for the past 1-1/2 hours. With soft socks on, so my feet can glide easier doing their moves in the tiny area. And it's not because my daughter now finally knows the direction she's taking for next year, or the two job offers this week, or the new car, or getting the most thoughtful phone call from an old friend last night. It's just that sense of "I Am" and I love it!
