Iranian Azerbaijani soccer fans take off their clothes in sympathy with earthquake victims

To protest the Iranian government for not protecting the Azerbaijani earthquake victims against winter cold and in sympathy with the victims, Azerbaijani soccer fans took off their clothes in Azadi Stadium in Tehran during a game which resulted in a win for Azerbaijani soccer team Tiraxtur (Tractorsazi) against Perspolis.

Recently, Iranian parliament struck down a bill that was presented by Azerbaijani members to accelerate the relief efforts in Qaradag region, Azerbaijan, Iran.

More than 3 months after earthquake in Azerbaijani region of Iran, victims continue to live in tents or unsafe houses. One of the quake victims, "Despite the snow and freezing weather we are still living in tents. We don't have money to build house and government doesn't care about us".

Freezing temperatures and heavy snow in Iranian Azerbaijan are making life miserable for the more than 74,000 residents who were left homeless by the devastating earthquake three months ago and who are still living in tents.

It has been more than 24 hours after the disastrous earthquake in Azerbaijan, northwestern Iran. 130 villages between 70% to 100%, and 20 villages have been ruined totally. Officials say casualties are about 300 dead and 5000 injured people. Although, eyewitnesses say it's much more than this. Aftershocks have made all people in the region to stay outside their houses, scared and stressful.

Ridiculously, on Iranian state media the main headline is how Syrian people are constantly supporting Bashar Assad!

ADAPP (2012-05-21): A new wave of mass demonstrations to save Lake Urmia was violently suppressed by Iranian security forces and riot police in streets of Azerbaijani cities of Iran such as Tabriz, Urmia, Marand, Maraga and Miyana. The riot police and security forces used tear-gas and batons to disperse the crowed, arresting scores of protesters. In the city of Urmia, capital of West Azerbaijan province, tens of detainees were led to the police cars and paddy-wagons and transferred to unknown locations, eyewitnesses said.
