I Want to Know What Love Is by Foreigner

Foreigner was formed in New York City in 1976 by Mick Jones, a British rocker formerly with Nero and the Gladiators, and Ian McDonald from King Crimson. They retained the then unknown vocalist Louis Grammatico and have since sold more than 50 million albums. Here is Foreigner performing live in 2002 with an orchestra and an enormous choir, the audience.

Stop Loving You by Toto

Another Toto great. "Stop Loving You." Have you ever gone through a break up and realized that stopping the loving is easier said than done even if you generated the break up. It is amazing what kids do to themselves. :) My remedy, and I know this is bad, was to quickly find someone else kind of like, "Forget about that and think about this." :) Listen to the whacking Rickenbacker bass. It sounds like a Roto Rooter on meth. LOL

Believe it or not these guys are still around and the talent is even greater than then. Crank it up and tell me what the heck this song is about. The kids born in 1979 and later are probably scratching their heads and asking "Does this song have something to do with fungi or maybe metalic metomorphises?" :)

Circa

CIRCA was formed in 2007 by veteran YES members, Alan White, Tony Kaye, Billy Sherwood and Jimmy Haun. I had the privilege of seeing them perform this medley live for the first time. Billy had tried to convince the members of YES to do this while he was still a member of YES but they declined. Now CIRCA does it.

http://www.youtube.com/circahq

Here is CIRCA today. Alan White has moved on and percussions are covered by Jay Schellen.

Iraqi Friend's Perspective

This afternoon I had a an opportunity to speak with a friend who is an Iraqi immigrant to the US, about the consequences of the Us/Iraq war. I asked "What is going on over there?" He told me this:

"My father is an Iraqi national and a contractor with the CIA. He keeps me advised of events in Iraq." He said, "Most Iraqis are very happy that the US took out Saddam. Saddam was a murdering butcher who would snuff out a person's life for sneezing in his presence."

For those musicians here who once played the concert circuit, this song will bring it home for you. This one is for you. :) Jackson Browne says it all in "Stay." Listen to the phase on his voice. Remember when we used to do that? We used to put phase on everything. I am not sure why. :)

Blinded by the Light by Manfred Mann

The most misunderstood lyrics in the history of rock and roll can be found in Blinded by the Light. For clarification, the song has nothing to do with feminine hygiene. :)

Here is a version of misunderstanding that you have probably never heard. \

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bMiV5Ls_LVU

I will give you the operative words of consternation. :)

Wrong: Wrapped up like a douche.

Right: Reved up like a deuce.
