Wow... should have known that such a critical subject would bring out the critics...lol. First of all, Azarin, those reports are from 1999. Not to dispell the truth of them, but the medical world (and I DO know what I'm talking about) changes its mind every couple years... put babies to sleep on their tummies, no, put babies to sleep on their backs... no, cover babies tightly... no, loosen the garments. I could go on and on and on. There is even conflict over breast feeding for God's sake. So don't put all your apples in THAT basket my friend. This has become one of those topics that remains the parents decision only. I also have to ask where you get your information that pleasure is decreased with a circumcision. Can YOU make a direct comparison? I think that statement is a little ridiculous. Have you done it both ways? Has anyone? As far as aesthetics... only a fool would disagree that UNcircumcised is as attractive. The health issue is absolute... albeit not as vital as in the past. The reason for this is... and this is the ONLY reason... is because the modern world is far more attentive and conscientious of health and hygiene issues. It IS a medical risk for both men and women if the penis is not clean. So if you have 100% of uncircumcised men paying attention to bidness... fine. But it ain't so. Most men are NOT...hmmmm... hygienically attentive.
As for you JJ... that is about the most ignorant statement I've ever heard a supposedly person make. I hope you reconsider your words. To make a comparison between male and female circumcision. I won't comment further. There are no words to express my disgust at your words.
And your next comment about cutting off the penis. Well, all I can say is that you're obviously a little bitter about something. First your blog on erectile disfunction (i.e. lack of performance), now this. You're obviously in pain my man.
So. As a woman, believe me... we do prefer a circumcised man. Hate me for the truth but there it is. Which is not to say I'd love my man any less, but I'll fall prey to the same hypocritical bullshit that men enjoy all over the world... looks do count.
And Majid... I'm sure you'll think twice before you make a joking comment again...lol. I feel for ya... you had NO idea what you were starting...lol.
Dear Mr. Shahvat panah, It seems your medical information is a bit outdated. But it's never ltoo ate to learn: ScienceDaily (Mar. 2, 1999) — CHAPEL HILL - After analysis of almost 40 years of medical research on circumcision, the American Academy of Pediatrics issued new recommendations today (March 1) stating that the benefits are not significant enough for the AAP to recommend circumcision as a routine procedure. The new policy statement is being published in this month's issue of Pediatrics, the journal of the AAP.
//aappolicy.aappublications.org/cgi/content/full/pediatrics%3b103/3/686Plus, with such a meaningful last name of yours, you should be interested in knowing that circumcision reduces the sexual pleasure in men. So as devoted parents we preferred to let our sons have the best of this world and so we chose the pleasure over the esthetics, if there’s really anything esthetic about it! Of course these facts about circumcision was well known in 90’s in France, as my first son was born in France in 1994. Plus, this practice is only done by some religious people, not by the rest of the population. Azarin

The practice of circumcision is 100% supported by medical community all over the world. The little extra skin leftover can create substantial problems down the road:
1) First of all it makes the little guy not look nice and round and can turn the partner off to compare with the ones that have been circumcised which are usually nice and round and topoli on the top LOL
2) The extra skin or dangle will be den of fungus, germs and bacteria. Such problem can be devastating for the health of the partner as many women get variety of genital and uterus ailments and diseases due to partially unsanitary male genitalia.
3) The extra skin hanging all his life can have traumatic effects on a man! More than 20,000 men commit suicide in Sweden due to imperfect tip of their penis and rejection by the opposite sex....LOL
Thanks and enjoy your memorial day.

Ha ha ha... what are we suppose to do with ourselves in the world you suggest? Also I don't know if that would make us any more safe...it sure would make it more difficult!
NOT for religious purposes, but for cleanliness (medical reasons). In countries where most men are circumcised, the rate of cervical cancer in women is very low.
Circumcision is unnecessary. In this day and age it is just as cruel as female circumcision that is still going in some parts of the world. Billions of males in China and India and ... live perfectly healthy lives without mutilated genitalia. Have mercy on your son.
you said it well. The hospital/clinic or whatever probably screwed up on the VERY simple surgery, and the parents probably couldnt do 'jack' abt it,,,,so this is their way of expressing their frustration. You see, in Iran, if sth goes wrong in the hospital/clinic and then you have the intentions of taking legal actions, basically nothing much can be done to get justice. AND I absolutely support the parents' idea of doing this in oder to get their message accross.
p.s.: it would have been even better if they had the name of the hospital on the tomb stone as well.
circumcision used to be done by a worker in some public bath...

This is very interesting and sad at the same time. Being a dad myself, I feel the pain and sorrows the parents went through for losing an infant, especially for such a simple clinical surgical operation. Let’s not forget that, not long ago, circumcision used to be done by an uneducated worker in some of public bath (Hamam) in Iran.
Also, I can feel the parents’ motivation for seeking justice that no one can find in Iran nowadays. They probably decided to put the infants’ cause of death on his tombstone as a way of showing their cry for justice that only history may remember.
I am glad that a picture of his tombstone is on Internet….. After all, internet is used for exchange of information and ideas……

My first reaction was how sad, and then I read Majid's comment and started to laugh with hesitation. It is ok to bring humor even in tragic situation like this. The Little Angel is a victim of malpractice, which is very common in Iran these days. Such a simple procedure should not turn out that way!
we can not be always serious and politicaly correct. We can make some mistakes every now and then.
That's why my husband and I decided not to harm our boys. But the possible dangers and other problems of this barbarian act has been well known for many years (My older son is 14). Even before he was born, our doctor listed all possible side effects of such an act on a newborn to help us make our decision. Considering all the side effects it was a pretty easy decision. (The hard part was listening to the advice of a few family member from Iran :-)
Any responsible parent should make a little bit of research before mutilating their own baby. Azarin
no one is laughing at a child's death! What is funny is that they have found it necessary to put such a cause of death on the poor guys tombstone.
