I was there and all we could find was Iranian flag with Gold lion. I would wear anything that could represent my country to American people in the prade. We are respenting perian new year not the government.

I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY IN MY PARTY SOME PEOPLE ARE HOLDING IRANIAN FLAG WITH A GOLD LION
IN MIDDLE INSTEAD OF THE NAME OF GOD. I WOULD BE SHAMEFUL IF I HAD TO HOLD THAT FLAG. WE
COULD HAVE DISPUTE WITH THE PEOPLE BUT NOT WITH THE GOD.
The ever changing dynamics of Iranians in New York

Standing at the parade in New York I had a great conversation with a Northern Tehran born male who is now an American citizen age 40 something. He told me that, "either a person is Iranian or American, one can not be both...this "Persian" identity is totally cowardly at the least and idiocy at the most. I saw photo 24 and the change in the manner the Parade is displayed. The term "Iran" and "Iranian" are displayed through out. The Obama Norooz speech has changed the tide of things. No longer is Iran a bad thing. Iran is now an Obama "in thing". I hereby dub Obama, "Ayat'Allah Hussein Obama". God bless Obama, and God Bless America.

Extraordinary event of an extraordinary culture packaged into an ordinary me too ritual with roots and epicenter that's in total contradiction with the sentimental meaning and purpose of Noerouz.
There has to be a better way to overcome identity crises during a escape from the hollowness of society.
