Hope and Freedom

by B. Y. (not verified) on

Ten years ago the leaders of the student movement made a profound statement "this is the last generation that will be peaceful, the next will use these" (showing both his fists raised). Today we see that intolerence by the regime towards its people come to a head. They've held power through intimidation for 30 years and now they don't even feel the need to hide it anymore. They have openly stole this election from the Iranian people and they will stick to their policy of brute force.
For all us Expats this might be the time to finally re-join our countrymen and go help them with prayers and financial commitments so that they can continue to procede with this uprising against tyranny. This isn't the time for rhetoric, the moment is at hand and it is time for action. The 1979 revolution wasn't all that long ago and for many the memories are still fresh and there were many lessons to be learned from how they did it. That same systematic perversion of the mob that they used to revolt against the monarchy can be turned on them. Only this time instead of religious fevere, it is something much more substantial and meaningful....National pride.
Not all may agree with me, but all have to concede that there is a great divide in our nation, amongst ourselves, between brother and sister, friend and neighbour. And however far apart our opinions may be, to collaborate and make change towards a free democratic society would benefit all.
So weather tomorrow you stand against my right to freedom, across the street from me waving a different coloured banner, or you have a police uniform on and you've been ordered to attack the heroic people of Iran who won't accept the the threats of this dictatorship anymore. Remember that at the end of the day we are all Iranians and there is no personal ill towards you....You too can join us and fight for our freedom. There is no shame in changing your mind, Because in the Iran that we want, your oppinion matters, unlike what this regime has offered for 30 years!
The people have spoken and once again their pleas for change went unheard, no longer are the silent majority quiet...in the face of tyranny they have rose up and I hope they don't stop until once again our Pride and glory has been restored.
To Mr. Mousavi, you sir are my President, and I pray that in the difficult days ahead.. you will be rightfully put in place to lead our nation to a brighter future...my prayers of strengh and resilience go to you and your family. And hope that you stick to your beliefs and not be deterred by the actions of these cowards, like so many others before you.
