Abdul Baha, founder of the Baha'i faith

January 23, 2009

An Iranian blogger, yarro, inspired by Obama's inauguration this week, writes "today, people...have reached such a level of intelligence that they look at each other only as human; color, religion, and other factors are not used for discrimination against each other."

The blogger adds that one day something similar could happen in Iran.

"I have a dream, a dream that one day in my country equality will be achieved. I might not be alive when that day comes, but it will definitely come, a day when someone, who doesn't believe in the Islamic Republic, without facing discrimination, will become Iran's president.... Yes, Mr. Islamic Republic, a day will come when a Baha'i will be [able] to become Iran's President."

It's not clear if the blogger is a member of the Baha'i faith, which faces widespread discrimination and  >>>

Correction. Baha'i's do not engage in party politics

by rgmonster (not verified) on

As a Baha'i I can say that this statement is incorrect. Baha'i's do not engage in party politics and as such there cannot be a Baha'i president. Abdu'l Baha never made any such statement.

Also, Baha'i's are not against any government, including the Islamic Republic of Iran. Baha'i's can pray and ask for God to help leaders to be kind, mercifull and value justice and be of the highest moral stature.

Lastly, Abdul Baha was not the founder of the Baha'i Faith. The Baha'i Faith was founded by Baha'u'llah, Abdul Baha's son.

For clear information on what the Baha'i Faith really is please visit www.bahai.org.

God bless
