ROME — Young Iranian film director Hana Makhmalbaf is to preview her film about protests that followed Iran's disputed June presidential election at the Venice Film Festival, organisers said Monday.
"The footage is already in Italy and the young director is finishing the editing and post-production at a secret location" thereby avoiding strict Iranian censorship, one of the festival's spokesmen told AFP.
"Green Days," using a mix of raw footage from the protests and fictional sequences about the position of women in Iran, will show outside of competition at the 66th Venice Film Festival, which runs from September 2 to 12.
The film shows "Iranian society going through a revolution, with all its hopes and doubts" through the story of a depressed young Iranian woman caught up in the political events, a statement quoted Makhmalbaf as saying.
