Iran to Discuss Alleged Studies of Atomic Arms

VIENNA (Reuters) — Iran [1] has agreed to answer contentions stemming from American and other intelligence reports that it studied how to design nuclear weapons, the chief of the International Atomic Energy Agency [2] said Wednesday.

Mohamed ElBaradei [3], the agency’s director general, called the gesture a “milestone.” Iran previously denied the reports but declined to address them in detail.

Moment of truth? For the past several months, ElBaradei has said he genuinely wants to help avoid a US attack on Iran over its nuclear program. But, he holds, Iran needs to want to help Iran first.
