Another portrait depicting the flight of the Shah is an outright caricature. Iran is a shiny red apple, its white pulp the map of the country. The revolutionary crown in the map carried portraits of Khomeini and banners inscribed with religi-political slogans. A red tulip in full bloom rises from the valentine-shaped heart of a martyr, and an outsize swallow, the harbinger of spring, flies in pursuit of a Shah-headed worm whose skin pattern is the American flag.
