Photo essay: Ta'ziyeh
By Maryam Ovissi
July 29, 2002
The Iranian
Fataneh Dadkhah's photographs were on display at New York's Lincoln Center as
part of an Iranian theater festival focusing on Ta'ziyeh.
Dadkhah is a brilliant photographer who creates pictures that blend dramatic scenes
and colors. She is also documenting Ta'ziyeh as an important, under-appreciated,
art form.
Dadkhah was a stage photographer for Roudaki Hall in Tehran for twenty years.
She has also done research about Ta'ziyeh as a form of pop culture.
Dadkhah resides in the Washington, DC, metropolitan area and works as a photographer.
