The Iranian

From "Popular Paintings and the Persian Legend", a booklet published in the late 1970s for a Paris exhibition of coffee-house (qahveh-khaaneh) paintings in Tehran that started appearing in the early 19th century.

The exhibition was for Maison de l'Iran in Paris by Groupe 7/Animation. It was organized with the help of Iranian painters M. M. Assar and Zarrine-Afsar as advisors, Mr. Fouroughi as architect, and Mr. Naderzadeh, cultural attache of the Iranian Embassy in Paris.

The paintings were from the collection of Monir Shahroudy Farmanfarmaian. Thanks to Zara Houshmand for providing the book.
