White dove

White dove, time has come

To spread your wings.

Even though you worry,

Even though you're afraid.

Your once white wings are stained

With the blood of innocent lovers,

Of all other white doves

Who dreamed of flying,

Of the miscarriage of hope.

Spread your wings, white dove.

Show your stains without fear.

L

y,

So all who see you will know

About the chains you broke,

About the chants all sang,

And the fire that fooled and killed

All our beautiful butterflies.

Spread your wings and fly, white dove

To higher skies,

Where bullets of lies can't reach you,

Where you can put your tired body

To rest on milky cotton clouds.

Fly over green fields,

Over mosques and churches,

Over houses where God is held hostage

In books and rules.

Fly over rivers where no human

Has littered the air

With its human nature.

Fly low and let the stream

Wash away all your stains.

When it purges you of anger and nightmares

Don't forget the blood of innocent lovers,

Of all other white doves

Who dreamed of flying,

And the miscarriage of hope.

Fly white dove,

And be sure to land

Only when you reach

The unbreakable branches of righteousness.
