TEHRAN - Students at Tehran University carry an injured colleague to
the relative safety of the university mosque following an assault on the
university campus by security forces late July 12. Witnesses in the city
told of police and Islamic vigilantes beating students with batons and
throwing tear gas canisters to impose control around the university, scene
of five days of student protests. The fires were lit to burn any tear gas
