    "'Modernity' and 'consumerism' are still considered four-letter words and taboos in revolutionary [Iran] and no one dares question this prevalent, but absolutely wrong, point of view," writes Bijan Namvar in the latest issue of Par. "Modernity is not a plague introduced by foreigners, nor is consumerism. Modernity and consumerism are two important forces of civilized progress in any society."
