Akbar Ganji: A traitor
I would like to comment about the Iranian
of the year, Akbar Ganji. I personally disagree with all the people
who did vote for Ganji for several reasons; but I just skip the details
and mention one or two to make a long story short.
Ganji and his so-called reformist friends and colleagues were the same
group who worked wholeheartedly for and with the Islamic regime from the
onset of the Islamic revolution. Ganji, Hajjarian and most of these so-called
reformists, journalists and overnight writers worked with the intelligence
arm or section of the revolutionary guards for more than ten years.
That is the main reason for his knowledge or "vast knowledge"
of what is going on behind the scenes in the Islamic Republic. His sources
for writing a very resourceful book about Hashemi Rafsanjani comes from
his years of working very closely with him!
Ganji and the rest of his so-called reformist journalists have given
a bad name to reform! Why? becasue they were the same people who made life
miserable for Iranians inside and outside of Iran. They enjoyed threatening
people and entering people's houses in the middle of the night and barging
into parties and imprisoning people for participating in birthday or wedding
parties!
There can be two scenarios regarding Ganji, Hajjarian and their friends:
1- They are put there from the beginning of the revolution by a foreign
government -- the one that is also financing a number of NGOs working for
"charitable causes", so to speak, in Iran right now -- to act
at the right time for that foreign government! Ganji, Hajjarian and the
whole rotten bunch are defending Mr. Khatami's reform policies.
Peirre Elliott Trudeau said once, "Throughout history all great
reformers were sooner or later betrayed by the excessive fidelity of their
disciples. When a reform starts to be universally popular it is more than
likely that is has already become reactionary, and free man must oppose
it."
2- Ganji and his gang were traitors from the beginning of the Islamic
revolution because of two simple reasons: a) If they knew about the American
hostage scenario as a pre-planned scheme against Iran and Iranians, then
they are traitors to both the people and the country, b) If they did not
know about the hostage situation and still went ahead with the plan, then
still they are traitors!
Liberty is a gift, but a free one. Freedom is a birth right and the first
effect of liberty and freedom is "change". Ganji and his friends
helped the regime to restrict "liberty" and "freedom"
at least for ten years, now they talk about democracy, individual freedom
and reforms.
The Washington post doesn't write about anyone who is fighting
for freedom! But it writes about Ganji and his ideas (if they are his own!.
Why? Because Ganji and his friends are carrying a huge burden of guilt on
their conscious and they will take it to their graves, because there is
no way that they could get rid of it.
So, I cast a NEGATIVE vote for Ganji and his gang! Sorry!
(If this ends up in The Iranian, please don't put my name in there,
thanks.)
