I read your article and I must say that I found it pretty interesting. I used to think about the same thing till after a lot of research, I found out the main reason(s) Iran opposes Israel so strongly ["Just wondering"].

1- Iranian government calls itself the only Islamic state In the world. The other Muslim countries, are only Muslim countries. They are (and their constitution) influenced by Islamic laws and culture but their constitutions do not directly follow Islam and Quran. \

Therefore, we the Iranians (or better Persians) had always something to say about other counties and our position in this world. We always wanted to be a sort of power and mess with other countries. Why did Cyrus The Great save the Jews and return them to their home at the first place? Be oon chi bood? In Farsi slang this is called "Gondeh Goozi".

Of course Israel has disrespected Islam (Quds is the 3rd holiest place for Muslims) by occupying Palestine. That has given good excuse to Iran to do what it does.

2- After the revolution, Iran needed support and no one gave support to Iran. Not America (of course), not Israel, not any of the Arab countries. As a matter of fact, as we know, most Arab countries backed Iraq during the war with Iran (That included Yasser Arafat, the Palestinian leader).

The only support Iran could get was from Syria, and Lebanon -- both wanted something back: Iran's support against Israel! With that Iran also won good support from the rest of the Anti-Israeli Arab nations and Anti-American countries as well.

Since Israel is practically a state of the United States (billions of dollars in support every year from tax payers' money to Israel) if Iran was to oppose Israel and the U.S. at the same time, then she could win support of many other anti-American counties (such as Cuba, a country that refuses all religions)!

Iran is also making friends with Russia, China, and North Korea, countries who have no respect for Islam or any other religion! Buttom of story is that mollas need support. Surely they can't get it from us (their own people) and they cant' get it from other Muslim counties. They are either traders such as Jordan and Egypt or they are radical Sunnis who hate Shias (like Afganistan).

It is all about support and power. Mollas think about themselves and make their place secure in Iran. So far, they have done a pretty good job. Islam is nothing like that. In the Quran, Muslims were ordered to enter the Holy Land with respect to other people of The Book. What Muslims did and do does not reflect the Quran.

There is a hadith (saying) from Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) that one day, a Muslim will hold the stone of hell in his hand on earth." There is also hadith that says, "One day from Islam nothing remains but just a name, and from the Quran nothing but some scripts!" What do they all mean? Mankind is sick and seeks power! Uses fame, money, religion, and everything else to get what he wants.

Finally, I don't know if you are a Muslim or Non-Muslim hamvatan. But I do agree with you over these things. I mean, we have all seen the "kaarnaame" of Iran's mollas. Iran at the present time is just another violator, just like Isreal, U.S., Iraqi and the rest of them.
