* Who was responsible?

We have read in the history books about the aggression of world "leaders" and conquerors who had no sense of eventual mortality and behaved as if they would live for ever.

We have read about Pharoahs' claim to be God , Nebuchadnezzar with his thirst for blood, Nimrod of Babylon and the perils of the jews at his hands, Alexander the great who conquered the world and died at the age of 33, and not to forget Gengiz Khan , Tamerlane , Attila and many others who at their times also considered themselves either God or his shaddow on earth.

Not only we have read about them , but we have also witnessed ourselves how these arogant megalomaniac "leaders", without reading a page from history, repeated the same atrocities over and over again in our own lifetime. History will not be kind to the likes of Stalin,Hitler, and many many other dictators of recent memory.

Now , who is responsible for the atrocities of Chengiz Khan,Tamerlane and Attila? The truth is that they happened so far back in the history that it is difficult even to make an educated guess about them.

Do we know who was responsible for the crimes of Hitler and Stalin?

You are wrong if you thought they, themselves were responsible for their acts.These individuals were mentally sick people who needed medical attention and guidance to control their unrealistic and dangerous behaviors.Yes, they were sick people.

The real individuals responsible for these crimes were those who for their own benefits or out of fear, helped them to commit these atrocities, and more importantly the silent majority who did nothing untile it was too late.

Today, for example in the Middle East, we have a few midgets, historically speaking, compared to Gengiz Khan, Hitler and Stalin, who are in charge of the fundumentalist goverments and repeat exactly what their predecessors did many years or centuries ago. I do not fault Saddam Hossein, Sharon, Netanyahu,Taliban or Khamenei for their acts. I blame those who for one reason or another are helping them to stay in power and commit these nonsense crimes.

Will they ever learn that these mirages will never materialize and their ambitions of conquering the world for their "own" people will never happen? How many more times do we have to repeat the same mistakes? Why are we missing these opportunities?

If and when these fundumentalist leaders and regimes in the Middle East are gone , can we hope that more reasonable people will come to power and use their brains rather than their ambitions to solve their problems?

Will we preach and practice tolerance and coexistance instead of hatered and animosity?

Will we ever learn not to support these "leaders" for our own sake?

Will the international cartels overcome their greed and stop meddling with the internal affairs of the third world countries, and stop exploiting them? And the superpowers do something about it, instead of helping them?

I sincerely hope so, otherwise this vicious cycle will go on forever.
