Farima & the Backstreet Boys I am writing this because Farima was one of 36 young people throughout the United States to win the Larger Than Life award sponsored by Sears, Youth Service America and the Backstreet Boys. She won this award based on her dedication to service and volunteering, improving the community, involving others in volunteering and her plans for a project for National Youth Service Day 2000. For more information about the award you can visit www.servenet.org/awards. Her prize package included four tickets to the Backstreet Boys concert in Birmingham, Alabama, and a $2,000 grant for a National Youth Service Day Project which she will hold in April. She will be sponsoring a kit-a-thon to make care kits for the elderly and homeless for her project in April 2000. The greatest thrill for her was having the Backstreet Boys present her with the check and getting to meet and speak with them backstage before the show. Farima has been volunteering since elementary school and is very active in getting others involved as well. She is the founder and president of Team H.E.L.P. (Huntsville's Extraordinary Little People.) This is a group she started to get young students at her school involved in volunteering. They volunteer at many places throughout Huntsville such as ElderCare, the Downtown Rescue Mission, the Library, etc. She has even developed a website for her club at: www.homestead.com/teamhelp. I am including Farima's email address (princess1997@hotmail.com) because she loves to get emails and also writing to others. Sincerely, Sara Alavi Links * Photo of the
