
When director and Academy Award winner Xavier Koller contacted Kol Simch
to have existing music material, songs by German author Kurt Tuholsky, re-arranged,
they convinced him to let them compose new music to the old lyrics - a modern
view of the still contemporary text material. Olivier Truan, David Klein
and Michael Heitzler then wrote four songs for German actress and singer
Jasmin Tabatabai. The English-singing vocalist then sung german songs: "Tamerlan",
"Anna-Luise", "Sie zu ihm", and "Körperkultur",
a premiere in her carreer. The cooperation with Tabatabai was a great experience
for both sides, and the mixture of half German half Persian singer singing
lyrics by a Jewish author over melodies written by Christian and Jewish
musicians to be performed for a Nazi public in 1932 is a very special one,
indeed...
