
Female Afghan students write Dari (an idiom of Persian) exams in a bare
classroom in the girls' high school of Jabal us Seraj and Naswan in the
town of Jabal us Seraj, some 60 km (37 miles) north of the Afghan capital
Kabul, November 5, 2001. The school has 450 students, 24 teachers and seven
classrooms without electricity, heating or windows. There are no books or
any other essentials of children's education.
