Iranian elected to presiding board of ruling German coalition party
Berlin, Dec 17, IRNA -- Iranian-born Omid Nouripour was elected to the presiding
board of the Greens Party, a junior partner of the Social Democratic-led German government
coalition, the daily Frankfurter Rundschau reported Tuesday.
A resident of Frankfurt, the 27-year-old Nouripour is also spokesman of the Youth
Wing of the Greens Party in the southeast German state of Hesse.
A student of German language and literature, Nouripour gained prominence within the
rank and file of the environmentalist and pacifist party for his stance against xenophobia
and hatred of foreigners.
