Homa Taraji, who recently organized an exhibit by 20 contemporary Iranian artists,
returned home to Iran last year for the first time in 15 years and was surprised
to see an easing of strict religious restrictions but she feel that repression remains
pervasive. She is seen here in her Los Angeles home decorated with Iranian art Tuesday,
July 16, 2002. In the 23 years since Iranian exiles fled an Islamic revolution and
made Los Angeles their capital in the West, many have braved interrogations and detentions
in order to visit the loved ones they left behind .(AP Photo/Kevork Djansezian) >>>
