My name is A.
Niki Tahvildar-Zadeh [left, with Amit]. I am currently
a graduate student of Physics at the University of Cincinnati. I work with profs.
Mark Jarrell and Jim Freericks on the models of strongly correlated electrons in
the solid state physics. These are theoretical models that help us study the consequences
of the strong repulsion between electrons inside the solids. These strong repulsions
are sometimes responsible for such familiar phenomena as magnetism and insulation
in solids and sometimes can explain the strange physical behavior of novel materials
like superconductors. We extensively use modern computational methods and fast computers
to see if we can reproduce the strange behavior of materials from the physical laws
which are believed to govern the interaction between their constituent electrons.
We have had some successes so far! See here
