The rug, seen in this image, dates from the first half of the 17th
century during the Safavit Period in Iran, is 44 feet long and 14
feet wide, and is the centerpiece of the Smithsonian Institution's
Arthur M. Sackler Gallery exhibit entitled 'The World at Our Feet'.
Hundreds of almost-magic carpets from the Middle East and central
Asia will be on view at the 10th International Conference on Oriental
