Recipe in Poetry: An Award for an Iranian Poet
April is the month of poetry in the U.S. This year
with the support of the California Council of Arts,
a Los Angeles based literary institute named "Writers
at Work" organized a poetry contest, called "What's
Cookin?" in which poems related to recipe were called
forth.
One of the winners of this contest is the poem"
Pottage" or "Aash" in Persian by Majid
Naficy which
was printed on ten thousand beautiful postcards and
distributed among 300 restaurants and food shops
throughout Los Angeles and are available free of
charge until the end of April.
The English version of
this poem formerly appeared in Majid Naficy's "Father
and Son" published
by Red Hen Press and the Persian version in "Pedar
va Pesar" published
by Baran Publisher.
