Sean
Ahrar will
coach his first wrestling squad in the winter of 2005-06 at St.
Olaf College in Minnesota.
Ahrar
spent 2004-05 as the head coach at Dakota Wesleyan in Mitchell,
S.D., leading seven Tigers to the NAIA National Championships
and producing two Great Plains Athletic Conference Champions and
one
Region Champion.
A native of Iran, Ahrar spent two seasons at
Carleton earning the MIAC's coach of the year in 2003 before
the program was eliminated.
He coached internationally and at the
high school level for six years prior to taking the position
at Carleton.
Ahrar, a 1992 Minnesota State University-Mankato graduate,
has a bachelor's degree in English literature and a minor
in speech
communications. He was a varsity wrestler at Mankato as
well as the 1988 Men's National Collegiate Olympic Weightlifting
Champion.
He earned a master's degree in management from the
College of St. Scholastica in June of 2004.
