Downtown Los Angeles isn't exactly known as a pedestrian destination. That is slowly changing though with more people moving back to the area and new developments changing the harsh dual landscape of skyscrapers and run-down retail areas. The Wednesday farmer's market in front of city's main library is an example of this change. Originally started last summer for a short trial and now twice extended to an indefinite number of weeks, it is where the lunch-time suits meet the area locals to buy everything from organic produce, fresh cut flowers, baked goods, hand-made jewelry and even a quick lunch at a half dozen stands. Right in the midst of speeding cars and tall buildings, this is one place to seek out the warmth of ordinary Angelinos. -- Pedram Moallemian , Eyeranian.net
