SNEAK PREVIEW: My first name is Iran and in many ways my life has mirrored the nation of Iran's volatile experiments with modernity, revolution and Islam. There is a picture of me in my photo album from March of 1982 posing like Brooke Shields in her famous Calvin Klein jeans ad. On the next page there's a photo taken two years later where I’m veiled and somber, a young bride in Ayatollah Khomeini's new revolution. At the age of 19 I left America for Iran >>> My Name is Iran
