 Pahlavi Shortly after the Shah's death, French Paris Match announced "MORT DU SHAH" (August 1980). This picture was taken by their son Crown Prince Reza in Mexico, one of the numerous countries where the Royal family sought political assylum before reaching Cairo, where the Shah died on July 27, 1980 after a long and agonizing battle against cancer.
