What's he trying to say?

I think he is trying to show the fact that Christianity and Islam, despite the differences in appearance (cross vs. the crescent moon), are spiritually connected at a deeper level (the wires) and even man-made fences with barbed wire can not seperate the two. We are all part of the same earth and the same sun shines on all of us. WHY CAN'T WE ALL JUST GET ALONG?!
