Link or blink?
Is there a linguistic link between "champion", "campione" and
"pahlavan"?
Champion and Campio are derivated from latin Campio,
title given to the winner in batterfield or place of exercise.
Pahlavan and pahlav from Parthian era, also probably
source for Ferdowsi's chef d'oeuvre are appellations
for a warrior. The name lost its national meaning,
and became only a title for champions.
