A day to remember
After a year of encouraging the abandonment of the veil in state institutions, on 7 January 1936 (17 Day 1314, on the Persian solar calendar), Reza Shah Pahlavi appeared with his unveiled wife and daughters at a graduation ceremony for adolescent girls held at a teachers' college in Tehran.
