October Seventh, Two Thousand and One
Poem
October 30, 2001
The Iranian
The sun
...........ablaze
Yellow leaves
.............shimmer
Against a fragile sea
Of glass and blue sky
The air
......................Sits tenderly on the skin
The city sounds
....................,,,,,,,,,weave the ever reassuring
tapestry
of horns, birds and brittle sentences
Then I cast a look
....................at the horizon
Memory explodes
Images alight
And I choke with terror.
