A conference titled "Iran and the Surrounding World since 1500,
World since 1500: Cultural Influences and Interactions" will be held
at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) on April 14-15 at

* Science award
February 27, 2000 -- D.N. Rahni was the recipient of the first prize,
13th Algorithm (Al-Khawrazmi) Scientific International Award. The Award,
bestowed by the Iranian President Mohammad Khatami and Galileo Violini
the Regional Director of UNESCO, is named after the 8th century Persian
Mathematician, Philosopher and Historian, and is co-sponsored by the UNDP,
UNESCO, and the Third World Academy of Sciences among others (www.irost.com
