Iran, South Korea, to cooperate on oil
TEHRAN, Feb 1 (AFP) - South Korea's Commerce, Industry and Energy Minister
Shin Kook-Hwan is due in Iran Friday to sign an agreement setting up a
joint committee for cooperation in oil and energy, Seoul's embassy in Tehran
said Thursday. Shin, the guest of Iran's Industry and Mining Minister Eshaq
Jangeneh, will also meet President Mohammad Khatami and Oil Minister Bijan

Parliament tells businessmen to refund six billion dollars
TEHRAN, Feb 1 (AFP) - Parliament has ordered businessmen who benefitted
from a special exchange rate for four years to pay back six billion dollars
in gains, a parliamentary source said Thursday. The source said the order
contained in the pro-reform parliament's budget passed this week affected
mainly industrialists close to the conservative camp, and could see the

Iran discovers 26-billion-barrel oil deposit in Persian Gulf: radio
TEHRAN, Jan 31 (AFP) - Iran has discovered a major oil deposit containing
around 26 billion barrels in Persian Gulf waters off Abadan, a senior oil
industry official was quoted by state radio as saying Wednesday. Mehdi
Mir-Moezi, deputy managing director of the Iranian National Oil Company,
said the oil was found in shallow Iranian-held waters in the Dashteh Abadan

Kiev, Tehran planning gas pipeline project
KIEV, Jan 31 (AFP) - Kiev and Tehran are examining ways of transporting
natural gas to central and western Europe through Ukraine, Foreign Minister

Asseman gets OK for 400 million dollar new-aircraft loan
TEHRAN, Jan 29 (AFP) - Parliament gave the green light Monday for state-owned
Asseman Airlines to borrow 400 million dollars abroad for the purchase
of new aircraft for its ageing fleet, parliamentary sources said. Approval
