TEHRAN, Sept 3 (Reuters) - Flag carrier Iran Air plans to start flights
to Canada soon and to buy six new aircraft to refurbish its ageing fleet,
the airline's head said on Thursday. ``Up to now we have reached the North
American market, which is important for us not least because of the large
number of Iranians living there, through cooperation with other airlines,
but we would like to provide access in a more convenient way,'' Iran Air

* Iran to sue German firms over chemical weapons
TEHRAN, Sept 3 (Reuters) - Iran on Thursday named nine German companies
it has said would face legal action for allegedly supplying chemical weapons
to Iraq during its 1980-88 war with Iran. State-run Tehran radio quoted
judiciary spokesman Fotovat Nassiri-Savadkuhi as saying that a court in
Tehran would hear charges filed by Iranian victims of chemical attacks

TEHRAN, Aug 31 (Reuters) - The Iranian rial has fallen nearly nine percent
against the dollar on the black market in the past few weeks on high demand
for hard currencies, dealers said on Monday. Street dealers charged 6,100

rials ($100 million) on more than 2,000 development projects in deprived
rural areas in an effort to create jobs and improve infrastructure, state

* Iran boosts sturgeon breeding to raise caviar output
TEHRAN, Aug 31 (Reuters) - Iran has raised the number of young sturgeon
it breeds for release in the Caspian Sea to 24.5 million in the year to
March, up 15.3 percent from last year, a newspaper reported on Monday.
The daily Jahan-e Eqtesad quoted the state fisheries agency as saying the
sturgeon were bred at five centres to boost the number of fish and thereby
