TEHRAN, Iran (AP) -- Hard-line militants assaulted an Iranian deputy
president and the culture minister on Friday as they left a prayer service
in central Tehran, witnesses said. About 80 militants chanting ``Death
to liberals!'' scuffled with the two, both moderates, as they left Tehran

ISLAMABAD, Sept 3 (Reuters) - Afghanistan's Taleban
militia said on Thursday at least 10 missing Iranian diplomats may be dead
as tensions with Tehran escalated after 70,000 Iranian troops participated
in war games on their common border. Amnesty International reported on
Thursday that 10 Iranian diplomats and one journalist ``are said to have
been killed when the Taleban guards entered the Iranian consulate in Mazar-i-Sharif.''
